Emission-free FB500B available from September for heavy-duty compaction work

Swepac is introducing the FB500B, which it says is the first 66 kN battery-powered plate compactor on the Dutch market. The machine is designed for heavy-duty soil compaction and offers an emission-free alternative to conventional diesel-powered plate compactors. The first units will be delivered from September 2026.

With this launch, the Swedish manufacturer is responding to the growing demand for emission-free construction equipment. Demand is increasing due to stricter environmental regulations, tender requirements and the ongoing transition to more sustainable construction sites. According to Swepac, the new battery-powered plate compactor delivers the same performance as a comparable combustion-engine machine, without compromising productivity or reliability.

Heavy-duty applications

The FB500B delivers a compaction force of 66 kN, is powered by a 10 kW electric drive system and has an operating weight of 482 kilograms. The machine is intended for heavy compaction work in civil engineering, road and hydraulic engineering, infrastructure projects and commercial construction. Thanks to its electric drive, the machine produces no direct emissions during operation and generates less noise than a diesel-powered equivalent.

Fully electric product range

With the introduction of the FB500B, Swepac is further expanding its range of electric compaction equipment. According to the manufacturer, it is currently the only supplier offering a complete range of heavy-duty battery-powered plate compactors in the 4.0, 5.5 and 6.6-tonne compaction classes. The company aims to provide contractors and clients with an emission-free alternative for applications that have traditionally relied on diesel-powered machines.
According to Swepac, the launch marks an important step in the further decarbonisation of the construction sector. The manufacturer also states that the FB500B complies with DME regulations, which include a ban on the use of diesel-powered plate compactors.

According to Swepac, electric compaction is now possible even for the heaviest applications

Demonstrations and deliveries

To introduce contractors, rental companies and public authorities to the new machine, Swepac is organising demonstration events. During these practical sessions, users will be able to assess the performance of the FB500B under realistic working conditions.
Pre-orders have also opened. According to Swepac, the first production machines will be delivered from September 2026.
