Klasmann-Deilmann has recently acquired gel plug producer VelociGro from investor Ospraie. The company announced this in a press release. The acquisition gives Klasmann-Deilmann access to VelociGro's patented gel plug technology for the propagation of young plants.
'We are in the midst of a major transformation process,' says Moritz Böcking, Managing Director of the Klasmann-Deilmann Group. 'Our customers expect solutions that meet ecological requirements, are economically viable, and can be seamlessly integrated into existing production systems. With the acquisition of VelociGro, we are responding directly to this demand.'
patented gel plug technology
VelociGro's gel plugs are made from natural and compostable materials, are suitable for seedlings, and can be used in all common cultivation methods. The first steps Klasmann-Deilmann will take following the acquisition include pilot projects in which the gel plug technology will be introduced. Work is also underway on increasing production capacity and integrating the technology into existing product lines and advisory concepts.
