In a series of articles, VGR is highlighting the qualities and application possibilities of the TopChanger XP. This first instalment focuses on the issue of soil compaction.
Soil compaction is one of the most common yet underestimated problems on sports fields and greens. It results from intensive use, heavy machinery, and natural settling of the soil. Compacted layers restrict root growth, reduce water infiltration, and cause oxygen deficiency in the root zone. The consequences are weak turf, slower recovery, and increased disease pressure.
High Water Pressure
The TopChanger XP provides a unique solution. Using high water pressure, the soil is carefully 'blown open' in a controlled manner, without causing mechanical damage. In the same operation, sand is injected to keep the created channels open, actively contributing to aeration and drainage.
Proven Method
What makes this method distinctive is the precision and depth of operation, without the drawbacks of traditional aeration or verti-draining. The root zone becomes looser, water percolates more effectively, and the soil quite literally gets room to breathe. For greens and sports fields under stress, this is a proven approach to sustainably restore soil structure—without lengthy downtime for play.
