Husqvarna is expanding its autonomous mowing offering for golf courses with a new First Cut functionality for the CEORA and Automower 580L EPOS models. This software update allows golf courses to mow transition zones between fairway and rough using existing robotic mowers.
The new feature makes it possible to define and manage first cut areas within an existing autonomous mowing setup. According to Husqvarna, this removes the need to invest in additional specialised machines. The functionality is available as a free software update and can be integrated into existing robotic mowing programmes.
First cut areas can be created via Husqvarna Fleet Services, the digital platform for managing connected machines. By copying and extending an existing fairway, the system automatically creates a transition zone. This zone can be adjusted to course features such as bunkers or layout changes. For each first cut area, separate mowing heights and schedules can be set, while remaining part of the overall mowing plan.
The First Cut functionality is compatible with all CEORA and Automower 580L EPOS machines and does not require additional hardware. The introduction coincides with the start of the busiest maintenance period, when grass growth accelerates and pressure on maintenance teams increases.
