Brunssummerheide reports 'fantastic results' with compact overseeding machine

Brunssummerheide recently started using the Turf Buddy, the compact and manoeuvrable overseeding machine from Vredo. Course manager Jeremy Kramer decided to purchase the machine after Vredo gave a successful demo at the golf club in Brunssum. He explains why he is very satisfied with the results of the Turf Buddy.

The compactly built Turf Buddy features the Vredo double-disc principle. That is one of the reasons why Jeremy Kramer is positive about the choice of overseeding machine. 'Previously we seeded our fields manually, and the Turf Buddy method works much more efficiently,' he says. 'This year we have had to deal with changing conditions of wet and dry weather. The areas where no grass is left then become a bit muddy and unstable. The coarse type of grass seed we use needs to get deeper into the soil. You simply can't achieve that as well manually as you can with the Turf Buddy.'

Overseeding with a tractor not possible

Poor spots in the turf, such as dollar spots, drought damage, teeing grounds, tees, goal and corner areas, can be quickly overseeded with the Turf Buddy. According to Vredo, even a relatively small grass field can be maintained with this Turf Buddy. Kramer confirms this. He uses the machine mainly on the smaller, less well-maintained parts of his courses. 'We can't overseed here with a tractor, and that makes the Turf Buddy very useful. The working width of the machine is small and you can seed exactly the areas that a tractor cannot reach. In addition, the correct amount of seed can be dosed very accurately.'

Thanks to its compact design and detachable push bar, the Turf Buddy is also fairly easy to transport, according to Kramer. He speaks of fantastic results. 'This type of small maintenance on golf courses is difficult for me to outsource to a contractor with a machine. It therefore always becomes manual work afterwards. In that case it is practical that you can carry out this maintenance yourself with the Turf Buddy.'
