STIHL develops work bike for maintenance in zero-emission zones and busy urban areas
Green professionals increasingly have to deal with zero-emission zones and restricted access to city centres. To keep working efficiently in these areas, STIHL has developed an electric cargo bike together with Urban Mobility Group Benelux for professional use in the green sector.

The so-called STIHL E-cargo bike is intended for landscapers, green maintenance contractors and other professionals working in urban areas. The bike is part of the Mobile Green Care project, in which STIHL explores new mobility solutions for work in public spaces.

Alternative to the delivery van
Due to stricter environmental regulations and the expansion of zero-emission zones, it is becoming more difficult for companies to enter cities with a delivery van. According to STIHL, an electric cargo bike can be an alternative in some situations, for example for maintenance work in parks, green areas or courtyards. The four-wheel drive bike has a loading volume of around 1.9 cubic metres and can carry up to 200 kilograms. This allows users to transport tools, batteries and materials to the work location. The maximum speed is 25 kilometres per hour and the range can reach up to around 100 kilometres.

Designed for battery-powered tools
The cargo bike is equipped with STIHL battery-powered tools, chargers and accessories. Through the digital system STIHL connected, machines and usage can be monitored and managed. The vehicle also features a tilting solar panel that can recharge batteries. According to the manufacturer, this helps with energy management during work.
Possible role in urban green management
According to STIHL, the cargo bike could be particularly useful for work in locations that are difficult to access by car, such as low-traffic city centres, parks or narrow streets. Using cycle paths and being able to park close to the workplace can save time. For municipalities and green contractors, mobility solutions like this may play a role in maintaining green areas in inner cities where emission-free logistics is increasingly becoming the norm.
