New applications and international award mark the year for Wimmersson
Wimmersson BV.|eWeeding looks back on a year in which the company clearly grew, reached new markets and received international recognition. At the trade fair in London, the eWeeding Roller was awarded the Innovation Award. "We were already happy with the nomination," says Sonja Wimmers. "We didn't expect a small Dutch company to win such a prize. That made it extra special."

During the fair, jury members visited the stand for a demonstration. An hour later they returned with the result. "They were enthusiastic about the machine and about how we present the story. That really gave us a boost."
Close-knit team works in practice themselves
According to Wimmers, this appreciation is due to the small but close-knit team: Michel Wimmers, Rik van Viegen and Sonja Wimmers herself. Michel Wimmers brings a lot of technical and plant knowledge. Van Viegen, who has been with the company for just over a year, has developed quickly. "He really got stuck in," says Wimmers. "He comes from a different sector but learned the ropes very fast. And he supports Michel extremely well. At trade fairs they are really on the same page. Customers notice that, and it works." The team tests everything themselves and wants to have handled every application first. Wimmers: "You can only give honest advice if you know what it feels like to work with it." This means regularly going out to different locations, from cemeteries to sports fields. "Customers appreciate that. You speak from experience."

New applications: from rooftop terrace to artificial turf
Practice continues to deliver new situations. For example, eWeeding proved suitable for rooftop terraces, where the surface can be sensitive. It also turned out to work well for treating artificial turf fields. "We didn't know if the plastic would hold up," says Wimmers. "So we tested it on leftover material from a sports field. That went surprisingly well." At Roda JC, the technique is now being used on the strips where grass grows between the artificial turf. "If you have to pull that out by hand, it takes forever," says Wimmers. "In England they sometimes still work with hand picking. That's almost impossible." In addition, a successful trial took place. Thanks to all this, more and more site managers are discovering their own application. "Every time something new turns up at Maastricht-Aachen Airport. That keeps us sharp."

Customer stories as a driver for development
At trade fairs and demos, Wimmers notices that existing customers like to share their experiences. During an earlier demonstration day in Utrecht, participants from the pioneer programme joined who had already been working with the machine for weeks. "They explained to newcomers how it works. That is even more valuable than us telling it." Interest also remains high during trade fairs. The aisles around the stand are sometimes crowded. "That remains special. People drop by just to say how happy they are with the machine. That motivates us enormously."

Cooperation with Vos Capelle: nationwide coverage and future-oriented
With growth comes the need for structure. That is why Wimmersson has recently started working with Vos Capelle for service, maintenance and training. "That is a trusted name. With the experience of Vos Capelle, we can support customers well." This cooperation creates room for Van Viegen to better serve foreign markets such as England and Switzerland. "At a trade fair you can't really walk behind the machine. During such a demo you can. That really makes a difference." The nationwide demo and training days are being restarted by Vos Capelle and will be spread across the country, with prior registration.

Hardenberg January 2026: meeting moment for the sector
In January 2026, Wimmersson will once again be present at the Groene Sector Vakbeurs in Hardenberg. For many visitors, this feels like a moment when everyone sees each other again. "Existing customers are always welcome to catch up. We want to thank them very much for their trust in us. Anyone who is interested but still hesitating can take a close look at the machine and ask all their questions." Those who want to test afterwards can make a follow-up appointment directly at the fair. "The moment to see, touch and compare the machine," Wimmers concludes. "Everyone who is positively curious is welcome."
