Tencate Grass Holding B.V., a producer and supplier of artificial turf solutions, has acquired Sports & Leisure Group N.V. (SLG). This acquisition significantly strengthens Tencate's market position in various regions around the world. The deal includes the full share portfolio of SLG, which was previously owned by Sun Capital Partners, Inc. and other shareholders.

A notable exception in the deal is Domo Sports, the company led by Bas Reinds. This Dutch division is not part of the acquisition and remains under the ownership of Sun Capital. Domo will continue independently, as was already announced last week.
The acquisition aligns with Tencate's growth strategy in the artificial turf market, which has a global value of over 12 billion dollars. SLG, known for brands including Domo Sports Grass and Limonta Sport, has an extensive international network. According to Tencate, the acquisition opens opportunities to expand presence in markets such as Italy, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.
Logical step
Michael Vogel, CEO of Tencate, sees the acquisition as a logical step: "This acquisition strengthens our position in strategically important countries. SLG has strong brands and a robust network. Combining our products with their market reach creates opportunities for further growth. We've worked with the SLG management for years and have great confidence in their organization."
SLG CEO John Penninck also emphasizes the strategic and cultural alignment between the two companies. "Tencate and SLG share the same long-term vision and values. This partnership feels like a natural step and opens new opportunities for our organization and customers," says Penninck. The senior management of SLG will remain involved in the new organization and is reinvesting part of the sale proceeds in Tencate. This ensures continuity within the organization.
