Brochure uses before-and-after photos to show how municipalities are making public spaces greener and cooler
Sixteen projects in the Achterhoek show how municipalities can adapt public spaces to increasing heat. The examples have been brought together in the brochure 'Koele kernen, warme harten'. In addition to photos showing the situation before and after redevelopment, the publication contains practical tips and lessons for policymakers, designers and project managers.

The projects focus on making public spaces greener and more climate-resilient. This is not only about adding more greenery, but particularly about making choices that help keep the environment cooler during hot periods. Each project explains the approach that was taken. The before-and-after photos show how the public space has changed. The brochure also describes the lessons learned during the project and what other municipalities should consider when carrying out similar redevelopment projects.
