Vehicle manufacturer Club Car has developed a new version of the Tempo golf cart. 'It's a next step in deployability of a golf cart with low operating costs. It's very reliable and lasts for years,' says Martin Uittenbosch, transport product manager at Heybroek, the Benelux importer of Club Car. This new golf cart is expected to be available from June.
The Tempo model has been on the market since 2018. This latest version has undergone several significant changes. 'The greatest added value is the automatic parking brake function. It offers more safety. This golf cart can no longer roll away. Very important on hilly golf courses, but also on flat terrain. People often forget to set the parking brake on a golf cart,' explains Uittenbosch. Club Car uses StopSmart technology for this.
This automatic brake function is also found in other brands of golf carts, but in the Club Car Tempo, this function can also be easily disengaged if the battery is, for example, empty. 'This can be done very simply by the user. You don't need to call a mechanic or have the cart towed. You just disengage the brake and can push it away,' clarifies Uittenbosch.

'The appearance has become more automotive'

Another important change is the new dashboard. Uittenbosch: 'The appearance has become more automotive. There are more storage compartments and a wireless charging option for smartphones. Club Car has also placed the switch to drive forward or backward in the dashboard in this model. A nice ergonomic improvement. Previously, this switch was located between your legs.'
Lower Operating Costs
The lithium package for the drive complies with all CE safety requirements. 'The AC alternating current drive and brushless drive motor have two major advantages. Firstly, you use less energy, and secondly, the golf cart is very low-maintenance. Together, this results in lower operating costs.' The purchase costs of Club Car may be higher on average, but according to Uittenbosch, this does not outweigh the enormous reliability and lower operating costs. The battery lasts, depending on the conditions, three to 3.5 hours. 'That's enough for 2.5 rounds of golf. The big advantage of this battery is also the fast charging time, allowing the Tempo to be used multiple times a day. Not unimportant for rental on golf courses.'
